eteor Shower – Hunter 2020

In 2012, Mike Huben, known for his small diploid rebloomers, spoke to my Chicagoland daylily club and treated some of us with packets of his extra seeds.  Two resulting seedlings from my gift packet have proven to be great parents for me, producing several rebloomers with good branching and vigor. METEOR SHOWER is one of those offspring that begged for introduction. Early bloom and rebloom are inherited from STELLA D’ORO, which appears in its family tree 5 times. It was admired in my garden last summer by visiting hybridizers, and won best ‘on scape’ seedling at my club’s annual flower show.

METEOR SHOWER is cream tinted green, with a small green heart and yellow-green throat that bleeds out onto ribbed petals and sepals. It’s tall and robust, with nice branching. When the clump is in full bloom, it looks like a cloud of little celestial explosions. Fertility currently untested. 2021 update….easily pod and pollen fertile.
