Stand The World On Its Ear – Hunter 2020

I am excited to introduce my first ‘official’ unusual form daylily. EAR is tall, well branched, and fun! It was difficult to decide which UF category to register it in, because sometimes the sepals quill or curl and sometimes the petals are quite pinched. It always cascades, so that’s where it landed. EAR has a small green heart and appears white in the morning, especially in overcast conditions. In sun and/or later in the day, it’s more of a cream color.

Both parents show some instant rebloom in my garden, which is why I made the cross. EAR has rebloomed for me, but not consistently enough to register it as such. Its large bloom is credited to its dad, its ruffles to its mom. I haven’t made crosses with it yet, but both parents are fertile both ways. 2023 UPDATE : Fertile both ways, but pod is challenging because of the long pistil. I pollinate early and find a way to hold the pistil up vertically.
